TIV BED

Very rare Tiv child's bed carved from a single piece of hardwood. It is in the conventional design of a slightly inclined rectangular bench with rounded corners. Unlike similar Nupe beds with tapered conical legs, Tiv beds are characterised by squared legs and in some cases, an integrated headrest.  

Tiv beds are quite rare as very few survived, but beds made for children are extremely hard to find.

The Tiv bed is native to the Tivoid ethnic group. They are among the predominant groups in the Northcentral region of Nigeria. The Tiv people are famously known for their black-and-white striped attire.

Tiv and Nupe beds are normally repurposed as low consoles
