Hand carved African stool, Benin
Carved from a single piece of solid light coloured hardwood, this absolutely stunning African stool features a curved rectangular seat supported by two slightly curved columns, intricately carved in weave style openwork on a flat, rectangular base plate. Carrying handles are stylishly carved into both sides of the concave seat.
Natural variation in wood colour is visible. This is normal with real wood art and enhances the piece.
Republic of Benin in origin, acquired in Lagos, Nigeria from a private collector.
